Malaysia’s 15th General Election has officially been announced to be held on 19th November 2022 (Saturday).
Have you figured out how and where to vote? It’s more crucial than ever that you know how to check your voter information now that the government has cut the voting age to 18 and instituted automatic registration. As a result of the government lowering the voting age to 18, there will likely to be 21,173,638 ballots cast.
1. Confirm Voter Information
Before going to vote, make sure to check and confirm your voter information on the official Election Commission website to get the actual time and location on the polling day.
2. Steps in Voting
Whether you’re a first-time voter or regular voter, here’s a quick refresher on the voting process during polling day:
1. Line up for a ballot box at your polling station.
2. Election ushers will cross your name from a voter list, hand you a ballot, and mark your fingers with ink.
3. Ensure there are no markings on your ballot as this will disqualify your vote. Call the EC officer if you notified any markings on your ballot.
4. To vote, mark an X in the square next to your chosen candidate.
5. Place the ballot slip into the ballot box and you’re done!

4. Now Wait for the Ballot Results!
You have now successfully voted for the first time! Now you just have to wait for the results. You can check the results through website of Election Commission or you can just watch the news ^^

But What Happens After Voting?
The voting period will run from 8 am to 6 pm in Peninsular Malaysia and from 7 am to 5 pm in Sabah and Sarawak. Votes will be tabulated in front of scrutineers made up of representatives of the candidates once voting is completed. The chief of the polling place and the scrutineers will sign from Form 14 to certify the results when the count is finished. The paperwork will be collected by a returning office, who is an election officer responsible for tallying the votes. The next government will be form by the party or coalition that secures a simple majority of 112 seats.

Well now the most crucial next step is to wait for the November 19 polling day to fulfill your civic responsibility and together we can create a better future!
